Boca Juniors and Velez Sarsfield both secured spots in the knockout stage of the Copa Libertadores on Wednesday.
Boca, who were without Juan Roman Riquelme after he sustained a knee injury in the Argentinean first division on the weekend, overcame Brazilian giants Fluminense 2-0, while Velez Sarsfield defeated Mexican outfit Guadalajara by the same score.
Boca striker Dario Cvitanich opened the visitors account with a clean strike from near the penalty spot on 34 minutes, before substitute Juan Sanchez Mino struck from close range to clinch the three points in the 75th minute.
The loss ended Fluminense s perfect group stage record in this year s tournament, though the 2008 Copa Libertadores runners-up remain on top of group four with 12 points, two ahead of Boca with one match to play in the round robin format.
In Guadalajara, goals from Argentine duo Augusto Fernandez and Lucas Pratto ensured Velez Sarsfield would finish on top of group seven.
Guadalajara remains a mathematical chance of advancing to the round-of-16, but must overturn a goal difference of seven against Equador s Deportivo Quito and rely on Velez Sarsfield defeating Uruguayan team Defensor Sporting.
Elsewhere, Corinthians all but secured top spot in group six with a 3-1 victory over Nacional Asuncion in Paraguay.
Jorge Henrique and Emerson Sheik netted for Corinthians on either side of half time respectively before Carlos Ruiz Peralta pegged one back for the home side in the 69th minute.
Brazilian forward Elton put the result beyond doubt two minutes later.
Corinthians, who have never won the Copa Libertadores crown, lead Mexico s Cruz Azul by three points and host Venezuelan side Deportivo Tachira in their final group game.
